Germany's development policy in Southeastern Europe is aimed at helping the countries of the region consolidate democratic structures and establish social market economies. Local financial circumstances play an important role in that. On behalf of the German government and other donors, the KfW Development Bank has contributed to adjusting the financial sector to today's requirements. The book describes its experiences, the reasons for successes and what options arise from its work for future engagement. (orb)
