[ German President's school competition ]
All for ONE WORLD ONE WORLD for all now online
A total of 26,000 information and working kits for the German President's school competition on developmental subjects has been sent so far to schools in Germany and German schools abroad. The kit is designed for the secondary school level and contains suggestions for lessons, worksheets, presentation slides and two CD-ROMs.
Schools from Schleswig-Holstein in the North of Germany to Bavaria in the South have been preparing their entries for the developmental competition since November. All entries must be submitted by April 5. A special Website, www.eineweltfueralle.de, is accompanying the competition with information and material. The Website also features, among other things, the online magazine Pla:Net, in which young people write for other young people about developmental subjects.
The competition is to be offered every two years. InWEnts division for development-related training is implementing it on behalf of the German Development Ministry (BMZ) in cooperation with the Zeitbild publishing company in Berlin. The competition is supported by the German Agro Action NGO and DaimlerChrysler. Both present development projects they have promoted.
Students of the school years 7 to 13 at all types of schools are called on to send in their ideas, projects and articles for a just world. The competition rules set no limits to their imagination, and all contributions are welcome. A high-calibre jury will award the prizes for the various categories. The jury will focus in particular on the concept and content of projects, activities and lessons, the originality of the artistic or media presentation, as well as a successful combination of both.
The effort will be worthwhile for the participanting schools: 12 winning teams will take part in the big final event in Berlin on June 4, where they will meet the President and the Development Minister. The first three winning schools in each category will receive cash prizes totalling ¤ 12,000. German Agro Action is donating a special prize.
