World Press Photo 2005
A woman and the hand of her one year old child. The picture was taken in an emergency feeding centre in Tahoua, Niger, by Finbarr OReilly of Reuters on 1 August 2005. The photo won the Canadian photographer the prize World Press Photo of the Year 2005. When awarding the prize, James Colton, chairman of this years jury, said: This image has everything beauty, horror and despair. It is simple, elegant and moving. (ell)
