World Bank water policy
The World Bank plays a key role for the water sector. Thanks to its prominent position in development cooperation, it has a crucial influence on the policies of both developing countries as well as on those of donors. A study by the German NGO WEED (World Economy, Ecology and Development) and the Protestant charity Brot für die Welt describes the banks water policy in Sri Lanka and India. These countries were chosen because the bank is implementing its policy at project , programme and sector levels in both.
