In favour of diverse strategies

Diversity in Development. Reconsidering the Washington Consensus.

Euro 17.50, ISBN 90-74208-24-X

This book produced on behalf of the Netherlands’ Forum on Debt and Development explores the successes and failures of the Washington Consensus. A wide range of academics, current and former ministers, as well as experts from international organisations have contributed to the book. The main focus is on what development concepts work best for countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Despite sometimes conflicting opinions, the authors widely agree that the contribution made to development efforts by the recipes of IMF and World Bank was not always positive. Accordingly, they argue in favour of allowing a wider range of development paths. (orb)
