KfW banking group increases development loans

In 2003, the KfW banking group committed approximately 20 percent more funding for the support of developing and transition countries than the year before. According to KfW statements, the total sum came to 2.1 billion euros, 1.6 billion of which came from the KfW development bank, which allocates loans to government agencies and NGOs. Nearly a quarter of the total sum (506 billion euros) was allocated by the German Society for Investment and Development (DEG), which serves the private sector.
