BMZ budget increases

Germany’s Federal Government wants to raise the 2007 budget of its Development Ministry (BMZ) to ¤4.5 billion, which equates to a 7.8% increase over this year. According to information from the Finance Ministry, the additional funds will be allocated mainly to bilateral cooperation, the World Bank and the European Development Fund. According to BMZ figures, the German government’s financial planning foresees increasing the BMZ budget by more than 17% by 2010. (ell)
