Global climate change is a reality. The world’s poorest people are already suffering the most from its consequences. Natural resources are growing scarcer, and have even been completely destroyed in some places. Starvation, poverty and forced expulsion are the results. Strategies for sustainable resource management are called for on all levels, from nations to the private business sector.
Inwent addresses these challenges via capacity building programmes in its “Environment, Natural Resources and Food” department. Participants reflect on their own experiences and talk about their approaches in international working groups. Which examples of successful rural development or food security can be applied to other countries? What is the current state of the debate on natural resources and environmental protection? How does sustainable agriculture work? Experts and executives meet in training programmes and seminars. Afterwards they contribute to Inwent’s international Alumni Network where they can exchange ideas and experience with colleagues, organisations and partners throughout the world. They not only enjoy the personal gains of advanced training; they also effect change to the structures of the institutions in which they work.
