Inwent’s "Cooperation with the Governments of the Federal States, Development-related Education" department focuses on work in Germany. We are directly accessible in every federal state through our 14 regional centres. These regional centres advise young Germans on issues of international education, support programme participants from abroad visiting Germany, and attract cooperation partners from the business sector. Commissioned by the federal states, we organise programmes with partner countries.
At our Arrival Centre in Saarbrücken, participants from developing and transition countries get to know German living conditions and customs, often in conjunction with a German language course. The final module of this programme generally consists of a management training unit and a final evaluation at our Berlin Regional Centre. The department’s efforts are complimented by the "Service Agency Communities in One World" and the ASA Programme. The Service Agency promotes exchange among and the linking of all those involved in development policy at a local level, providing professional information, advising and qualification programmes. The ASA Programme offers three-month work-study programmes in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Southeastern Europe for students and young people who have completed their vocational training. Participants work on projects or initiatives on location aimed at promoting sustainable and socially just development.
Inwent enjoys the support of numerous volunteers. Our volunteers generously donate their time to contribute to the success of our training programmes here in Germany. They organise the International Circles Forum at Inwent’s regional centres. This forum offer a wide range of events to benefit our guests from abroad. Through their range of activities, our volunteers are making an important contribution to international understanding.
The department comprises 2 divisions and 14 regional centres:
