What does Inwent do?

Inwent – Capacity Building International, Germany, is a non-profit organisation with worldwide operations dedicated to human resource development, advanced training, and dialogue. Our capacity building programmes are directed at experts and executives from politics, administration, the business community, and civil society.

How do I find the right programme for me, and how can I apply?

Individual applications cannot be accepted for a large number of our international cooperation programmes. Please read the terms of application laid out in the programme description carefully. The description also gives the relevant contact information.

Does Inwent award scholarships for study and research projects?

Inwent is unable to provide funding or scholarships for study and research projects.

German and non-German students, graduates and academics who are interested in a study trip to Germany (e.g. to complete a doctorate or an MBA course) or abroad, should contact the Deutscher Akademische Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD) or the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for relevant information.

Can Inwent help organise internships?

Inwent is unable to organise individual internships for interested individuals from developing countries or transition states.

What does Inwent offer industry?

Inwent supports the German government’s foreign trade offensive. Sustainable economic development and global growth presuppose qualified people and competent institutions. Our capacity building programmes promote international competitiveness and contact to managers abroad.

What services does Inwent offer its alumni?

Inwent maintains contact with and among former course participants. At the alumni Portal you will find an extensive range of options for keeping touch with, such as follow-up seminars and a knowledge pool, to give but a few examples.

The journal "D+C Development and Cooperation" is published monthly and available by taking out a subscription.

Where can I find information on development policy and development-policy institutions?

The Documentation and Library in Bonn is Germany's largest provider of technical and specialised information on development policy. The development-policy library is open to anyone who is interested. It offers literature documentation, information about German and international institutions and internet websites. Databases, research and profile services round off the services available.

How can I apply for an International Leadership Training of Inwent?

The ILT training programme is part of an economic-development concept for particular regions, countries and sectors. Institutions and companies that cooperate with Inwent on projects are allowed to propose qualified participants for the programme.

Individuals may therefore not apply directly for an ILT programme.

How can I apply for the International Institute for Journalism?

The objective of the IIJ's training courses is to qualify press and agency journalists from developing countries. Target groups, for instance, are reporters and editors, journalists who have specialized in a certain field, managers of newspaper publishing houses and press agencies, and trainers and teachers of journalists.

The IIJ programme is open to journalists from print and online publications as well as from news agencies in the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Applicants are expected to have a minimum of four years of professional experience, an established track record in reporting on the subject of the training course. They are to be in permanent employment with good chances of promotion. Women journalists are particularly encouraged to apply.
