Regional Centre Mecklenburg-West Pomerania

A good neighbour to the east

Mecklenburg-West Pomerania borders on Central and Eastern Europe and serves as a gateway to this region. The Regional Centre Mecklenburg-West Pomerania therefore works closely with companies and economic institutions in the area, providing support for expert and intercultural exchanges with foreign firms from Central and Eastern Europe and developing countries.

International advanced training

Though Mecklenburg-West Pomerania is the most sparsely populated federal state, it is home to a number of Hanseatic and port cities and boasts the longest coastline in Germany. Due to its geographical location, the Regional Centre Mecklenburg-West Pomerania’s programmes primarily address Central and Eastern European countries, and its direct neighbours Poland and the Baltic States in particular. Russia, the People’s Republic of China, Vietnam, Thailand and Mexico are also focal areas for our activities.

Our programmes concentrate on foreign trade and international relations, sustainable management and business start-ups. We work with both national governments and educational institutions and universities in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. Our programmes are strongly practise-oriented, ensuring our participants receive only the best qualifications. By now InWEnt alumni represent firms in Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Russia.

Education for development

Development-related education in Germany is one of the Regional Centre Mecklenburg-West Pomerania’s principal responsibilities. We do our part towards creating one world and contribute to local development policy education through dialogues and other events. We also work with civil society action groups in initiating projects to increase awareness of issues such as free trade on the part of trainees in chambers of trade and commerce. The "Ch@t der Welten" in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania focuses on issues facing environmental and energy policy. As a partner and advisor to the North German Partnership to Support the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, we represent the International Education – Learning from the South Division.
