Thuringia is located at the heart of Germany and was a famed centre of German culture in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Regional Centre Thuringia serves as a partner for the business community and educational institutions and works closely with the state government and civil society.
The Regional Centre Thuringia provides experts and executives from developing and Central and Eastern European countries with qualifications. We have been working closely with the ministries of the Free State of Thuringia, especially the Minister President’s Office, and Weimar Bauhaus University for over ten years now. We focus on such issues as environmental protection, ecological farming, waste management and information technologies.
Commissioned by the Thuringian Minister President’s Office, we run the "Professional Education for Experts and Executives from Central and Eastern Europe" programme, thus supporting small and medium-sized enterprises from Thuringia in export trade. Foreign experts learn how to comply with European production and trade standards, combined with improving marketing for products from Thuringia.
Together with the Heinrich Böll Foundation, we present model Agenda 21 projects in Thuringia to experts and executives from Africa and Latin America. We explore the experience project leaders have collected in the field, the social implications, and the possible application of such projects in other countries.
Development policy begins at home. Our development policy education programme is dedicated to communicating the goals of development policy cooperation to the public at large in Thuringia. The "Development Policy Round Table in Thuringia" for example offers a forum where citizens of Thuringia and foreign guests can exchange information and ideas. Our special intercultural training seminar for instructors at vocational institutions and in-company trainers is our contribution to ending xenophobia and racism in professional education. Additionally we are in regular contact with the "One World Network Thuringia" (EWNT), with whom we sponsor events.
Within the framework of European exchange programmes, the centre offers advising services to young professionals and managers from the business and service sector interested in work-study programmes the European Union, North America and Asia.
Our close contact to Thuringian companies, associations and institutions ensures that our training programmes are practice-oriented and benefit local companies and institutions. The Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft’s Thuringian Business Group holds events on current issues facing professional capacity building and support our endeavours in this area.
