Foreign Trade and International Relations

Stable international trade and economic cooperation is one of the most important preconditions for the development of national economies. Today, as economic and financial sectors become increasingly inter-dependent at global level, the integration into the world market and the consolidation of one's own position are key issues – for businesses which are trying to force their way onto the world market and for economic policy, which sets the framework for economic commitment. Typical characteristics of internationalization are the liberalization of markets, the further development of international trading relations within the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and the integration of national economies to make regional economic and trade areas. And it is not only policies, but also businesses, increasingly even small and medium enterprises, which must hold their own against global competitors.

If they are to play an active and successful role in international economic cooperation, all actors need staff that are trained to international level, and who are mobile and able to operate at this level. In addition to technical know-how, and a good understanding of foreign markets, international hands-on and management competencies are key requirements.

InWEnt has set itself the goal of initiating and promoting trans-boundary learning communities, for employees of businesses, economic associations and administrations. This creates not only mutual social and cultural understanding. Our programs promote foreign economic relations at business and association level, strengthen the innovative ability and the competitiveness of businesses in Germany and in partner countries, and develop the individual careers and employability of program participants.

Successful, sustainable foreign economic affairs presuppose a dialogue at political and civil society levels. InWEnt has the appropriate programs, which allow participants to become familiar with international regulations, and the political and social structure in the partner country, as well as acquiring international hands-on and language skills.
