Rural Development, Food and Consumer Protection
Rural regions and the people that live in them fulfil a great number of vital functions worldwide. The most important of these is to supply the world’s constantly growing population with sufficient food whilst also protecting natural resources.
Priority themes and tasks
Instruments
We offer human resources and organisational development for developing, transition and newly industrialised countries on different levels: We raise the personal and professional competence of expert and executive personnel, improve the performance of organisations and support our partner countries in systemic reforms.
We provide organisational and in-process consultancy to partners engaged in the development process, employing a diverse and complementary set of instruments:
- International dialogue with political decision-makers
- Job-specific advanced training courses in Germany
- Creation of knowledge networks and cross-border learning communities
Regional priorities
Our activities are currently concentrated in countries and regions in Asia, especially Southeast Asia, and in Africa. In addition we run programmes in Latin America, in Mediterranean countries, in states of Central and Eastern Europe, and in the Newly Independent states (NIS).
