The chairman of the committee for information and communication technologies of the Legislative Chamber, the lower house of the Uzbek parliament, Xurshid Dostmuhammad, who is also the leader of the Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival) party, warned the young against the danger of the Internet saying that this technology can be a dangerous tool to "dehumanize” people.

Any parent warns their children against playing with bad boys, but now this "bad boy” is entering their homes in the image of the Internet, he said in his article published by the Xalq Sozi main daily on 17 January.
"Now, our innocent sons and daughters have an opportunity to be dehumanized at home even without going outside,” he said.
Dostmuhammad also said that the Internet can be misused for "evil” goals: "It is being stressed that an addiction to using the Internet, which is an enormous resource, for evil goals is increasing.”
The party leader called on people to withstand an "information attack” on Uzbekistan during the period of globalization and to protect the young from falling victim to forces urging "villainy”.
"…We are talking about the world turning into a single information ’space’, and how our people can find their worthy place in this ’space’ without losing their national identity and humanity. We are talking about how to protect the young from falling victim to a torrent of information attack.”
"Unfortunately, such an enormous resource is used to poison people’s lives. What can we say about the existence of forces which push such a sacred creature like a human being to wickedness and villainy?!” he added and called for vigilance while reading articles on the Internet.
